Dual-Spec FAQ
Q: When I respec, do I have to respec both of my specs?

A: No. When you select to untrain all of your talents, you will untrain the talents of your active spec, leaving your other spec alone entirely. So before you respec, make sure the spec you want to untrain is active! Otherwise, you'll be paying for both respecs.
Q: How does it work when I have Beast Mastery for one of my specs and not for the other?

A: If you switch from your spec with Beast Mastery to your spec without it, you will have your default 16 pet talent points refunded to you and you will have to distribute them all over again. However, if you switch from your spec without Beast Mastery to your spec with it, you will keep the 16 points you've already distributed and only have 4 you can distribute.
Q: Can I still use my exotic pet with my specs that don't have Beast Mastery?

A: Unfortunately not. To use any exotic pets you've tamed, you'll need to have the spec with Beast Mastery active.
Q: How do my glyphs work in conjunction with my specs?

A: You will get a glyph set for each spec. Be sure to check out the new Explosive Shot and Kill Shot glyphs. They're expensive to come by (unless you've got an Inscriber for a buddy that's high level) but they're worth it, especially for Survival Hunters.
Q: Do my action bars reset when I switch specs or when I untrain a spec?

A: They shouldn't; however, some Hunters have experienced phantom skills taking their rightful place after a respec (Raptor Strike especially likes reclaiming it's Button 2 spot). You may experience your action bars resetting but not to an extreme. It should be limited to replacing a few skills from your skills book.

I have had a lot of Real Life difficulties in the past few weeks and am finally now finding time to get around to updating my guide as thoroughly as I want to. Over the next week or so, I plan on bringing in the following changes:

- reworking of Beast Mastery spec recommendation
- mention of optimum DPS spec and my experiences with said spec
- update of all the consumables that are helpful to Hunters

Additionally, we now have Google Connect that you can join with your e-mail and become part of a network if you wish to do so! :)

Stay tuned! I promise the update will be worth it.

With the addition of 3.1, I have been testing out Beast Mastery and Survival builds. So far, my testing has concluded overwhelmingly that Survival is still superior to Beast Mastery when it comes to a DPS build. However, I just respecced both builds (I dual-specced because I am a Beast Master at heart) again today and am currently testing out another two builds this week with my normally scheduled raids.

Not only am I in the process of rearranging the spec section of the website to include a soloing build as well as a raiding build but I am also planning on giving the "Tips & Tricks" section an overhaul to include more stat increases (such as Flasks of Endless Rage) and useful Hunter add-ons (such as Omen and Recount).

Unfortunately, I did have a hard drive failure a week or so ago where there was a concern that I might have a boot sector virus. I lost everything locally because I didn't want to change my back-ups being infected and ruining my new hard drive. I reset my FTP settings today and I am still waiting for them to complete but I am slowly getting everything back to working order.

Please bear with me. I promise I'm still huntering around!

Since patch 3.0.8, Beast Mastery is no longer the way to go for optimum DPS in raids. To do optimum DPS, a combination of Marksman/Survival is working very well for most Hunters.

Feel free to copy my spec if you want. It's working very well and on some boss fights in Naxx10 I am able to get over 3,000 DPS with decent gear. My spec is actually an off-shoot of Aerynson's. Thank you, Aerynson.

Don't worry, Beast Masters. Blue has already posted that they are working on balancing us out again and it is suspected that this brief stint for us raiders in Marksman/Survival shall be no more once they are finished.

Oh! And remember your Flasks of Endless Rage!

It has come to my attention that people may be registering on our guild forum because they have viewed my guide. You are more than welcome to register on our forum - we are open to anyone and everyone; however, I neglected to mention how to register.

Some time ago, our forum was getting registration spam (bot accounts created for advertising) and we were having to sort through over 60 false registrations a day. It became too tedious and we disabled registration through vBulletin.

If you would like to register on the forums, please go here and use the registration form. We will create a user account for you and e-mail your password to you.

If you have already used the guild application to apply, go ahead and e-mail me at cheesekate@gmail.com. I have already set up user accounts and passwords; however, the guild application doesn't prompt for an e-mail address and I've had no way to get in contact with the people who have tried to register so that I can give them their passwords.

I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused!

After more than a year, I've finally put together a finished product that I feel is worthy of being put on the Internet. It isn't the exact vision I had a few years ago when I dreamed up an actual website for my "guide," but I think it's turned into something much better.

Thank you to everyone who has read and continued to read my theorycrafting. The only reason I held off so long on updating is because I wanted to get the website operational.

Should you find any broken links or anything off, please let me know. I will be prompt in fixing it. Otherwise - enjoy! :)

Now that my addiction to Wrath of the Lich King had subsided a little, I can work on updating my Hunter guide.

It's actually a good thing that I've waited so long. Our DPS tactics have changed significantly and I was having difficulty until recently achieving optimum DPS.

Okay! We're up and at 'em. Please update your bookmarks to point toward this website as the thread for the original guide will be removed in about 30 days time.

I do have a fixed background for right now and it is a big load. If this causes strain on your computers/load times, please, please, please let me know. As much as I like the way it looks, I don't want looks to get in the way of functionality.

As I've always said: feedback and suggestions are very much appreciated.
